Conservation Work - Sovereign Hill

Purpose
The Purpose of the position is to assist Conservation Volunteers & Sovereign Hill staff to conduct major conservation works within the grounds of the Sovereign Hill Tourist Park. Conservation volunteers are working at Sovereign Hill on a regular basis. The dates are: 2-6 August 6-10 September 4-8 October
Areas of Responsibility
Conservation volunteers will be assisting to rejuvenate 100 acres of semi-natural bush outside the museum area, by implementing revegetation and erosion control works. Also volunteers are helping to maintain gardens and internal fencing and facilitate water saving measures within Sovereign Hill as well. Teams will also be involved in maintaining the gardens at Narmbool, just outside Ballarat.
Tasks
Conservation volunteers are assisting to rejuvenate 100 acres of semi-natural bush outside the museum area, by implementing revegetation and erosion control works. Also volunteers are helping to maintain gardens and internal fencing and facilitate water saving measures within Sovereign Hill as well.
Objectives
The specific objectives are conducting a major revegetation program, implementing erosion control & general conservation works.
Special Requirements
There are no specific requirements for the volunteers to join Better Earth projects. Volunteers can join for a day or for the whole week. There is a cost of $208 ($120 concession) (this includes food, accommodation & travel to & from the project). There is no cost if joining or the day or if you are local.
Role Qualifications
There are no specific qualifications or skills for the volunteers to join Better Earth projects.
Training/Supervision Provided
Conservation Volunteers employs Team Leaders who are qualiifed in OH&S, Level 2 First Aid & Risk Assessment.
