Purpose
Drive on is a community based volunteer program designed to provide young learner drivers who face significant barriers to successfully obtaining their license with the opportunity to access driving practice under the supervision of a fully licensed driver.
Areas of Responsibility
Driver supervision. Provide friendship and support in a non-judgemental way. Meet with the mentee at least one hour per week
Tasks
To act in the role of supervising driver and help the young person build up 120 hours of driving experience prior to going for driving licence.
Objectives
To help the young person to gain 120 hours driving experience prior to going for their probationary license. To develop a supportive relationship with a young person. To have fun!
Role Qualifications
Drivers Licence Police Check Working with Children check
Training/Supervision Provided
A free training course to learn the necessarry skills. The Drive On coordinator provides ongoing support to the mentor and makes a thorough asessment to ensure the mentor-mentee match is suitable. A car is provided at no cost to the participants. All precautions are taken to ensure all participants are ready for their role.
