Purpose
To preserve dry stone walls and dry stone walling techniques

Tasks
Join a unique and exciting dry stone wall preservation project at “Stoneleigh” (an historic farming property south-west of Beaufort on the Beaufort-Carranballac Road). Receive training in basalt drystone walling. Help to demolish unstable sections of drystone walls, collect stone, rebuild and repair patches in drystone walls. The project will run over 2 blocks, starting 30th September 2009 for 2 ˝ months months. The 2nd block will start late February 2010 and run to 27 May 2010.

Enthusiasm for heritage. Ability to work outdoors and lift stones.

Training/Supervision Provided
Training will be provided in dry stone walling by a qualified dry stone waller. Ongoing supervision and training will be provided by the property owner, with support from Conservation Volunteers Australia. Volunteers will also receive Certificate 1 Basic First Aid training.
