Friendly Visiting volunteer

Purpose
The aim of the Program is to provide one-to-one contact (which often grows into a friendship), with the local visiting volunteer team also organising get-togethers which are attended by the volunteers and the elders they visit.
Areas of Responsibility
Wherever possible the skills and interests of volunteers are matched with elders. together with meaningful tasks such as; Talking to elders, Walking with elders, Reading, Craft, Games, Outings, Music, Special celebrations and functions
Tasks
DutchCare provides among other things, social support for frail elderly persons and persons with a disability of Dutch background, through its Friendly Visiting Program. Volunteers will provide one-to-one contact by visiting Dutch elders in their own homes or in Nusring homes. DutchCare volunteers play an important role to assist us to provide a range of opportunities for Dutch elders to increase their enjoyment of life. The Friendly Visiting Program operates Victoria wide and has currently 12 volunteer teams. Each team consists of an Area Team Leader and between 4 - 30 volunteers.
Objectives
Special Requirements
Visits will be done weekly for about 1.5 hours. If possible the volunteer to speak Dutch or is dutch related.
Role Qualifications
If possible dutch speaking or with a Dutch background
Training/Supervision Provided
training will be provided by our Social Support Coordinator who will come to Ballarat to do the training.
