Purpose
In accordance with the requirements of the Victorian Emergency Management Act 1986 as defined by the Emergency Management Manual Victoria, and all subsequent amendments, Red Cross has a number of responsibilities for supporting people where emergencies occur. These include the provision of services such as Emergency Catering, Registration, Emergency First Aid, Personal Support, Single Incident Emergency Assistance and the National Registration and Inquiry System, all Red Cross emergency services activities within their area. During emergencies, the Divisional Operations Officer is the prime Red Cross contact within each Red Cross Division, and is responsible for the control and coordination of all Red Cross resources within that area during times of emergency.
Areas of Responsibility
This position covers the following Local Government areas: Ballarat, Central Goldfields, Golden Plains, Hepburn, Moorabool, Pyrenees Travel within these areas is required
Tasks
In the absence of the Divisional Operations Officer, • Liaise and maintain effective communication with the Emergency Services Coordinator and all officers and team leaders. • Coordinate and control all Red Cross emergency services resources when activated during emergencies • Represent Red Cross during planning phases of Municipal Emergency Management with each Municipality within their area. • Attend all relevant meetings and operational debriefs at Municipal level. • Undertake the duties of the Red Cross Liaison within each Municipal Emergency Coordination Centre (MECC) when such centre is activated. • Liaise with other emergency response and support agencies during both planning and operational phases of emergency management. • Represent Red Cross at operational debriefs. • Maintain regular contact with Emergency Services Coordinator.

Training/Supervision Provided
Regular contact and training is provided by the Regional Emergency Services Coordinator
