First Aid Services Volunteer

Purpose
To assist in providing first aid at events where St John Ambulance has been employed.
Areas of Responsibility
Respond to and treat casualties within the confines of the event. Work within the scope of practice of St John Ambulance.
Tasks
As a St John First Aider, you'll be trained to deal with any medical emergency from applying a band-aid through to performing CPR for a cardiac arrest. No prior skills are required since we provide full training for clinical, management and support programs. You'll become part of the Ballarat Division - a group of volunteers that meet fortnightly for training, event planning and organisation.

Role Qualifications
To become a St John Volunteer, you are required to: * Follow St John policies and procedures * Undertake ongoing training * Complete a National Criminal Records Check (CRC). We'll provide you with the appropriate forms and pay for the CRC on your behalf. * Hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) * Provide two names and contact details for reference purposes * Perform first aid duties including CPR * Assist in moving and lifting casualties * Remain calm in stressful situations * Communicate effectively with casualties, team members and the public * Take precautions for your safety and the safety of those around you Be prepared to: * Work as part of a team * Recognise your limitations and ask for help * Have fun and enjoy the experience
