Volunteer Costumed Interpreter

Purpose

Sovereign Hill is an outdoor museum presenting the story of Australia's fabulous goldrush history.

Areas of Responsibility

Volunteer Interpreters greet visitors and demonstrate life in the 1850’s, providing background information on the history of the Central Victorian gold rushes.

Tasks

The Friends of Sovereign Hill program (FOSH) is looking for energetic, enthusiastic and creative people to help Sovereign Hill with its presentation of a busy, bustling 1850s goldmining Township.

Objectives

FOSH are a dedicated group of volunteers who have a love of Australia’s heritage and enjoy sharing their stories, experiences and skills with visitors curious about life on Victoria’s goldfields.

Special Requirements

Minimum time requirement - four to five hours a day for a minimum twenty days per year.

Role Qualifications

Good oral communication skills. Knowledge of the central Victorian gold rushes history, or an interest in learning. Enjoy meeting and working with the public.

Training/Supervision Provided

A full induction process and supervision will be provided.
