Purpose
The coaching volunteer is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation and coaching of the Ballarat Northern Knights Football teams. The objective of this position is to provide support and mentoring to players with disabilities to equip them with the skills and confidence required to be involved in a sporting team environment. The time commitment will be one training session per week in the evening and match day Sunday during the football season, plus time meeting times.
Areas of Responsibility
1. To conduct and facilitate player training sessions 2. To conduct and facilitate coaching duties on game days 3. To supervise players and manage behaviours on game days, training sessions , during the travel to and from the game and at arranged Knights football social functions.
Tasks
The Volunteer, under the direction of the Disability Services Manager, is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation and coaching of the Ballarat Northern Knights Football teams. Objectives
To give the players the skills and knowledge to be the best the can be in a supportive environment.
Special Requirements
Hepatitis Vaccinations are recommended.
Role Qualifications
Coaching certificate required and previous coaching experience is desirable but not essential. A high level of organisational and time management skills and excellent communication and public relations skills. Empathy for people with a disability including the ability to supervise and mentor.
Training/Supervision Provided
An induction program will be provided and there will be regular meetings (6 weekly) held regarding how the team is progressing and any rules changes that have occured.
